Meet Meredith Prescott, LCSW & Coach

I’m Meredith Prescott, LCSW, a New York City-based coach and psychotherapist, here to help you navigate the challenges of dating, relationships, and chronic illness.

During my senior year of college at University of Maryland, I became sick with a chronic illness and had to leave college. While it was a painful and overwhelming time for me, it was my advocacy skills, my zest for life, and my relationships that got me through.

This experience motivated me to obtain a Masters in Clinical Social Work to support others and help them gain the tools to best help themselves. A life that would feel authentic, fulfilling, and freeing. Later, while working with cancer patients and clients with chronic illness, I also recognized the obvious impact their condition had on their relationships, which inspired me to receive both advanced certifications in couples therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.

Now I use my expertise as a trained couples therapist and individual therapist to coach people who are struggling with the challenges of relationships, chronic illnesses, and everything in between.

Taking action and advocacy on behalf of those in need is a regular part of my life.

While counseling cancer patients at Mt. Sinai Hospital, I pondered how else I could help support my patients. So I decided to run a half marathon for Leukemia and Lymphoma Society to help raise funds. Later on, I also ran the NYC Marathon for Platelet Disorder Support Association for  Immune thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP), and I have hosted numerous 5K events since then to raise funds for research for those who have ITP.

I know no strangers—only friends I haven't met yet.

Feeling connected makes me feel whole, and I have always made my relationships my number one priority. I am incredibly extroverted; so when I am not working, you can find me hanging out with friends and family, traveling with my husband, exercising, and making new friends at any opportunity. Many of my friends would say that I’m the 411 for those who need a doctor, cosmetologist, physical therapist, and everything in between!
